Amelia Knezevich
Volunteer & Wellness Coordinator
Amelia Knezevich is excited to take on the role of Volunteer Coordinator for The Garden. She works directly with The Garden’s fabulous team of volunteers providing support and enrichment opportunities. Amelia encourages potential volunteers to go through the volunteer training program and join a Garden Volunteer Team or two. She is called to working with people and relationship building. Amelia worked as the Active Adult Program Coordinator for the three East County Family YMCA’s for 20 years setting up workshops, lectures, field trips, health fairs, social clubs and community outreach programs as well as, teaching aqua aerobics and fitness classes. Much like many of The Garden’s plants, Amelia is a California native. She fondly remembers playing as a child along side of father in their backyard garden and sharing their harvest with neighbors.
Amelia is a graduate of Helix High School and University of California Santa Barbara where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. She went on to study Spanish at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico. Her love of traveling took her to Okinawa, Japan to run a summer camp program for the USMC, then off to Denver, Colorado to lead the preschool swim program for the Jewish Community Center before returning home to San Diego. You can find her visiting with folks and flowers in The Garden or in one of our fun yoga classes or workshops.
