YAILY GONZALEZ
Ms. Smarty-Plants™ Bilingual Educator
Yaily Gonzalez is a Ms. Smarty-Plants™ Bilingual Educator at The Water Conservation Garden and proudly works to give K-6th grade students excellent interactive curriculum that focuses on the value of the Earth’s most important resource.
She holds a bachelor’s in Sustainability and a minor in Public Health from San Diego State University. Prior to joining The Garden, Yaily worked for North Park Nursery, where she strove to provide customers with high-quality plants while informing them of earth friendly care methods. She also worked for South Bay Community Services, strengthening communities of youths and families of San Diego. During her time with SBCS, she worked within case management for children and youth seeking temporary shelter at the San Diego Convention Center. After this employment, Yaily was lucky to have found the Garden through SDSU; she began her work as a semester intern in fall 2021! Yaily is passionate about children’s education, especially advocating for students in lower income communities on their behalf. She believes that no act of kindness or love, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
When she’s not dedicating her time at The Garden, Yaily loves to stay home cuddled up with a good book or movie. In her spare time, she loves having picnics, practicing yoga, trying yummy vegan recipes, and playing with her two fluffy dogs at the park.
