Tortoises & Tequila

Tortoises & Tequila

Friday, September 14,  5:30-7:30pm

The Water Conservation Garden invites Garden members, press and VIPs to the opening of the Jean Immenschuh Desert Tortoise Garden.  The event celebrates the arrival of three desert tortoises donated to The Garden by Jean Immenschuh.  The tortoise trio of Tank, Bernie and Mr. Peabody are the first permanent, year round animal exhibit at The Garden. The exhibit will enable The Garden to expand its educational programming to include the important role of native wildlife in our local ecosystems.

Event activities include:

  • “Tortoise talk” by Pam Meisner, The Garden’s Director of Operations and Programs featuring Tank, Bernie & Mr. Peabody and fun facts about desert tortoises
  • Food and refreshments, including margaritas!
  • Opportunities to provide support for the care of the tortoises
