About Our Tax-Exempt Status
The Water Conservation Garden is a separate 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization established to support the work of our Joint Powers Authority. The Joint Powers Authority consisting of the following partners: Helix Water District, Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District, Otay Water District, and Sweetwater Authority.
Although The Water Conservation Garden Authority is a public institution and is automatically tax-exempt as a government entity under Section 115 of the Internal Revenue Code, our organization operates as a separate tax-exempt entity. This allows us to:

How to Donate to The Garden
All donations to The Water Conservation Garden are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Our IRS determination letter confirming our 501(c)(3) status is available upon request.
