Samuel Ciccati was president of Cuyamaca from 1984 to 1993, following eight years as vice president of Grossmont College.
“Dr. Ciccati’s gift has enabled The Garden to establish an endowment through The San Diego Foundation, assuring the long-term fiscal stability of our organization. This generous gift allows The Garden to continue to educate residents of all ages and backgrounds about the importance of water efficiency and resource conservation,” said Jennifer Pillsbury, The Water Conservation Garden’s CEO/Executive Director.
“To honor Dr. Ciccati’s gift, The Water Conservation Garden has named its expanded education center The Samuel M. Ciccati Water Conservation Education Center,” Pillsbury said. Since opening in March 2020, The Samuel M. Ciccati Water Conservation Education Center has been an important community connection spot for the region, hosting conferences, meetings, classes, and workshops.
Ciccati was a member of the Joint Powers Authority that created the garden more than 17 years ago.
