Chair Yoga - Garden Chair Yoga

Thursdays @ 10am Set in the lovely Butterfly Amphitheater at the heart of the garden, these adaptive accessible sessions aim for good stretch, a bit of a workout, and some valuable mind-quiet time. The classes are gentle, and combine both chair and standing postures to provide what the class needs on any given day: flexibility, muscular strength, range of motion, agility, vitality, balance/coordation. Mindful meditation topics help reinforce that ever important connection between body and mind. Bring your own mat (chairs and props provided), something for hydration, and bundle up in layers for outdoor weather. Garden Members do NOT need to register online. Please sign in upon arrival.

Supporting you to feel good, get an effective workout, and be outside into nature! Beginners are most welcome. August Tour - Garden Tour

Saturdays @ 9am  FREE with Garden admission ticket!  Tour led by an experienced Volunteer Docent. Walk The Garden trails and learn about our many plants and exhibits along with interesting stories of The Garden. Learn about watering & care needs; discover which plants attract pollinators; compare landscape design ideas for a variety of looks & feels in home gardens, and much, much more. Pre-registration is NOT required. Non-members pay Garden Entry ticket at the Admissions booth at the front entrance of The Garden. If your party is larger than 8 people please email info@thegarden.org ahead of time so we know to expect you.

August 8th - Nature Therapy Experience

2nd Sundays @10am An easy-paced, guided tour which produces a calming, internal experience. Participants are invited to connect with nature during a guided stroll through The Water Conservation Garden, and a brief sit in our outdoor spaces. The formula is simple, and the resulting emotional wellness and inner peace taps into our sixth sense; the state of mind. Your instructor and guide for Nature Therapy is a Garden Docent with a PhD in performance psychology, specializing in wellness strategies. Nature Therapy in The Garden appeals to many types of people whether intellectually, physically, or emotionally-centered individuals, and is all-inclusive, suitable for any fitness level, and a wonderful fit for seniors. Exercises and methods are based on the Japanese ‘Forest Bathing’ practice known as shinrin-yoku, which means “taking in the forest.” Among the benefits of forest bathing, say practitioners and researchers, are improved mood, relaxation, lower cortisol levels, connections with nature and insight. This program has been adapted for safe, physical-distancing and masks are required for Garden entry. Safety protocols for social-distancing: Limited capacity (10 people) Tip: It’s best to come hands-free and ready to engage with nature. You may want to wear layers as the mornings are cooler but definitely warms up by mid-tour.
